DYFAMED

Dynamique des Flux Atmospheriques en MEDiterranee

Multidisciplinary site within MOOSE network (Ligurian Sea), in passage between eastern and western Med Sea. Strong influence of atmospheric deposition influencing productivity and particle export monitored by atmospheric survey (Cap Ferrat) and two permanent sediment traps. Physical parameters recorded from surface to deep waters through monthly visits and permanent deep mooring. Biogeochemical parameters obtained monthly during ship visits. The site is also a way point of gliders and used for cross- validation of bio-parameters (nitrate, oxygen).

TNA

DYFAMED is a multidisciplinary site (integrated in the national MOOSE network, EMSO and OceanSites) :

– One standalone deep mooring (150-2350m) with two sediment traps (200 & 1000m): physical forcing and carbon fluxes
– One surface buoy (Meteo France): physical forcing (upper 250m) and weather conditions
– Monthly ship visits: deep CTDO2 profiles, BGC sampling (nutrients, AT-CT, O2, pigments), Underwater Video Profiler (since 2013), zooplankton net (surface)

Prefered time period for TNA During annual cruises to serve the mooring. Monthly ship visits are also available with one day per month.
TNA Support offered Logistical, technological and scientific support will be provided to access the DYFAMED fixed-point installations.

Instrument installation methodology - Mooring collection (3-4 hours)
- Sensors data downloading (6 hours)
- Cleaning and repairing the mooring (one day)
- Change the sensors battery (2 hours)
- Calibration of all T-S sensors with CTD-rosette profile: one cast down to 1000m depth for 30min (check the sensors accuracy)
- Cleaning the sensors and programming for the next deployment
- Deployment of the mooring (4 hours)
- Check the GPS position of the mooring (2 hours)
