Oceanology International 2016

Oceanology International 2016 event was held in London on the 14-17 March. It is the world’s leading forum where industry, academia and government share knowledge and connect with the marine science and ocean technology communities.

A number of FixO3 partners were present as exhibitors (e.g., NOC, Ifremer, NKE Instrumentation, Ireland’s Marine Institute) and as speakers (e.g., SLR, PLOCAN, INGV).

NOC presented on Tuesday an analysis of the costs and benefits of fixed-point observatories in the session on Marine Technology and Services Sector Role in the Blue Economy. SLR hosted an event on Innovation Meets Industry on Tuesday showcasing the achievements of open ocean and coastal observatories and the new technologies evolving from the scientific activities of marine observatories across Europe. They also organised a Technology Cluster Workshop on Wednesday for end users of marine observational data to provide input to the managers of ocean and coastal observatories on the relevance and impact of different data sets to business activities.
